French Throwdown 2025: Elite Category: An Innovative Dual Qualification Format

The French Throwdown 2025 introduces a mixed qualification system, combining invitations and online qualifications, to offer both sporting excellence and equality of opportunity. Here’s everything you need to know about this unprecedented process:

A Combined Format for an Exceptional Competition

To ensure a diverse and representative field of the best talent, the French Throwdown 2025 will allocate competition spots as follows:

1. Invitations: 20 athletes

- 17 invitations will be awarded to the top athletes from the European CrossFit Semi-Final 2024 (French Throwdown), based on their final ranking.

- 3 invitations will go to the top 3 French athletes from the quarter-finals phase of the 2024 CrossFit Open.

These invitations recognise and reward the performances of athletes who have excelled in high-level competitions over the past year.

If an athlete declines the invitation, it will be directly passed to the next athlete in the ranking (2024 Semi-Final for European athletes and 2024 Quarter-Final for French athletes).

2. Online Qualifications: Open to all

The remaining spots will be allocated through an online qualification phase, giving all CrossFit enthusiasts a chance to join the competition. This opportunity allows for the selection of emerging talents and provides an equal chance for all athletes around the world to prove their worth on the international stage.

Key Dates for Qualifications 2025

Online qualification period: from 12 to 26 February 2025. Athletes will need to complete several WODs within the deadlines, according to the regulations published in the official Rulebook.

Announcement of qualifiers: The results of the qualifications will be published shortly after the validation of submitted videos.

A Qualifying Event for the CrossFit Games

The French Throwdown 2025 retains its status as an official qualifying event for the CrossFit Games. The top two men and women in the Elite category will qualify directly for the Games, subject to being eligible and having met the Open and qualification requirements.
