A little history

The French Throwdown was born in 2012, during the first edition of the national fitness championship held in Paris with the support of Reebok. Since then, we have chosen to perpetuate this tradition by organizing a high-level CrossFit competition in France every summer. The first editions took place from 2013 to 2016 at the National Institute of Sport, Expertise and Performance (INSEP), before relocating to the Charléty Stadium until 2018. From 2019 to 2022, the French Throwdown took place at the National Velodrome of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, an iconic venue that will also be a site for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. In 2024, for a historic edition, the French Throwdown was hosted at the LDLC Arena in Lyon - Décines, where we also organized the CrossFit Games Semifinals, bringing together the European CrossFit community in an exceptional setting. In 2025, we are happy to announce that the French Throwdown will take place at the Sud de France Arena in Montpellier. Situated just 2 minutes from Montpellier Méditerranée International Airport, this state-of-the-art multifunctional venue, inaugurated in 2010, offers modern accommodation and infrastructure for an unforgettable experience.

CrossFit Louvre

Since its inception, the French Throwdown has been organised with the essential involvement of the CrossFit Louvre teams. Founded in 2012 on Rue Étienne Marcel, after relocating to Place des Victoires in Paris, CrossFit Louvre settled in 2013 at 31 Avenue de l'Opéra. As the 4th French box, its location has become legendary in the practice of CrossFit. Hosting most of the first official CrossFit certifications in France, it has become a pilgrimage site for the first passionate French-speaking CrossFit enthusiasts wishing to open their own box. This iconic box, located in Paris but also in Bordeaux, is a major player in the CrossFit community in France. Since 2012, CrossFit Louvre has been bringing its expertise and commitment to making each edition a unique experience for the athletes, the spectators, and the entire CrossFit community.
