Excitement is at its peak this year with the French Throwdown 2024, which will have the honor of hosting the European Semi-Final of the CrossFit Games for the first time. It’s a unique opportunity for athletes from all backgrounds to compete against the best, push their limits and be part of an epic competition that will leave its mark on the CrossFit 2024 season.
How to take part in the French Throwdown 2024?
For this new 2024 vintage, the French Throwdown returns with over 18 categories. The big news this year will be the absence of the Elite categories (Individual and Team). These will be replaced by the athletes from the CrossFit Games 2024 Semi-Finals, who have emerged from the Open and won their precious berth at the end of the quarter-finals. An exceptional opportunity to see the best CrossFitters from the old continent.
For all categories, from RX to Intermediate and Scaled, not forgetting the age groups, here are the dates you won’t want to miss:

- Monday, January 1, 2024: Online qualification registration opens,
- Friday, March 22 to Thursday, March 28, 2024: Qualifying for individual categories,
- Tuesday, April 09 to Monday, April 15, 2024: Qualifying for team categories.
Once again this year, the FTD Sport team is preparing qualifying events that will challenge you and allow you to extend the community spirit of the CrossFit Open. Note that the individual qualifying format will change somewhat for 2024, with three workouts to be completed in six days. This means you’ll have two days to complete and submit each workout. Teams, meanwhile, will have 4 workouts to complete. As in 2023, events will be individual and can be completed separately by all four athletes.

A Grand Final at the LDLC Arena in Lyon-Décines:
The Grand Final will be held at the LDLC Arena in Lyon-Décines from May 17 to 19, 2024. This means that the athletes from the Semi-Finals and the athletes from the Community part of the French Throwdown will come together for three days in the same venue to share their love of the CrossFit sport. For this new edition, two competition areas will be created to accommodate the 840 qualified athletes.
